If you like "old things" you might want to visit the "Mercado de Dorrego" (also called "Mercado de las Pulgas").  It is a chaotic and surprising flea market.

You might find anything from old armchairs, fittings and lamps to old vinyl records.  It has 143 stores and it is a very interesting excursion.

In case you want to buy something we recommend you to go with cash, because they don´t accept credit cards in most of the stores.

Address: 1600 Dorrego Ave. - Palermo.

Plaza San Martín

It was a slave market, then a bullring, an artillery barracks, and, towards the end of 19th century, it was landscaped with over 300 trees.  Surrounding this lovely park are many mansions that used to belong to patrician families and today are official buildings, such as the Palacio Haedo (National Parks headquarters), Palacio Paz (Military Circle) and Palacio Anchorena (Foreign Office).

One of its neighbours was writer Jorge Luis Borges, who dwelt on the corner of M. T. de Alvear and Maipú.

In our days, it offers a pub district as the perfect way to end the day while sharing a pint.

Palermo Queens

Palermo neighbourhood has turned into a main attraction for tourists lately.  It is a very important commercial and gastronomic district in which nowadays there are a lot of hotels, fashion designer shops, restaurants, bars, spas and the like.  This may be the reason why Villa Crespo is now referred to as "Palermo Queens" and it has become the new trading center in the city.

In Argentina, as well as in many cities round the world, the number of international experienced tourists who come to buy designer items of clothing when they are on sale with a 30 or even 50% discount has considerably increased.

Not only is Palermo Queens visited by tourists but also by people who do live in Buenos Aires and want well-known trademarks which cost less there than in high-street shops.

Cacharel, Armani, Exchange, Paula Cahen D´Anvers, Rapsodia, Puma, Caro Cuore, New Man, Cheeky, Wanama, Timberland, Bowen and Hush Puppies are just an example of the designer labels which can be seen in the shop windows.  Also, the shops offer products from previous seasons maintaining their high quality.

It is a walk outdoors that it is worth going for, in case you buy what you are looking for.
