Nightlife in Buenos Aires

Few cities in the world have such an intense activity as the city of Buenos Aires, with so many options for the people who want to live this experience.  This "nightlife" permanently increases the important variety of high level restaurants in Puerto Madero neighbourhood, nowadays all of the located in front of the extraordinary view the estuary of the River Plate offers, in the most glamorous area of Buenos Aires.

On the other side, Palermo neighbourhood gathers together both artists and young public, contribute with the "a la carte" entertainment, with restaurants and thematic cafes covering the sidewalks, bands live and nighclubs that remain open after midnight, different proposals when we have to choose what to do.

Las Cañitas neighbourhood, another "gourmet" space is mostly visited by actors and actresses, and by those who choose this option after the cinema or the theatre.  Again, the variety of cuisine, and the clothes stores that remain open until midnight, give us an idea of how many different places the city has to offer.

For those who like tango, dancing, or other popular cultural expressions these areas are "not to miss" points.  The cosmopolitan Buenos Aires is much more than this, in most of the capital cities of the world, entertainment usually end at midnight, but here the "porteños" used to sleep less in order to take advantage of amusement, prove to be very "latin".

The gay community has its space in this "porteño" nightlife too.  The thing is, this was the first place to admit the homosexual legal engagement, and offers an important amount of gay friendly restaurants, thematic cafes, and nightclubs.  Everybody can enjoy entertainment here, and as the local citizenship is open to different beliefs, sexual choices, and ethnick groups, is reasonable that gay tourism is accepted as well.

Las Cañitas Neighbourhood

Between Palermo and Belgrano, behind the "Campo Argentino de Polo", there rose a few years ago this small area which spread alongside a large group of signature cuisine restaurants. Its name stems from "El camino de las Cañitas", a road which connected the city with the secluded area of country houses, in the mid 19th century, when carriages lifted the dust from the dry dirt roads.

Modernity and splendour concomitant with the 1990´s caused the rise of a new gastronomic pole.  At first, the new restaurants aimed at the local hip scene, but eventually the varied gastronomic offer and decoration of the establishments started attracting a public of diverse styles and trends.  The menu is eclectic: grilled meat at "Los Primos", wood-fired pizza at "Morelia", fusion dishes at "Novecento", regional fare at "Las Cholas", pastas in "Eh Santino", drinks at "Soul Café", wine and "tapas" at "Arguibel".

Morelia restaurant
Added to this, new clothing shops peer timidly in between the profusion of culinary hot spots.  This is, for instance, the case with "Rapsodia", "Vevú" and "Giesso", to mention a few.

Must-sees at Las Cañitas:

- Soul Café: A restaurant extremely reminiscent of the 70´s: dim lights, red walls and signature cuisine. 246 Baez.
- Morelia: Wood-fired pizza plays the starring role.  It´s thin crust tempts us to have several slices. 260 Baez.
Soul Café
- El Primo: A humble pizza joint, with up-beat atmosphere.  Good meat cuts and reasonable prices. 302 Baez.
- Las Cholas: Local Argentine cuisine dishes, cooked in a cob oven.  It tends to fill fast. 306 Arce.
- Moshi Moshi: At this cute and light hall one may have varied rolls, salmon and sea bream.  Sushi bar. 1707 Ortega & Gasset.

Tigre: Discovering our remarkable Delta - Part III

Fair and Fruits market

Fruits market

This attraction has a harbour too, this is the place where the locals used to trade their supplies, foodstuff, and merchandise produced on the islands.  Nowadays among the traditional products, you may find food, clothes, plants, furniture made of wicker or jute, to buy. Opens everyday from 10 am until 7 pm.

Victorica Stroll

On the other side of the fluvial station, after you cross the bridge, enhaces among the boats and kayaks, a wide variety of gastronomic proposals. We specially recommend "Il Novo María del Luján", located at the no. 611 of Paseo Victorica, that has an outstanding view and the best mediterranean and international cuisine to offer.  Has attractive options to enjoy the view from the pier, among which we emphasize its friendly atmosphere at tea time.  Two blocks from there, is a must "Vuelta & Victorica resto" that offers also an excellent cuisine as well as the view and "Villa Julia Resort", a stately home built in 1906 as a vacation residence, following the traditional french style, with an outstanding  wooded park with swimming pool facing the river.
Victorica Stroll

As we once read on the Pirelli guide, "...Tigre is an enormous and lovely aquatic country club.  Cars and streets dissapear between a complex chain of channels and different means of sailing transport".
